Over the past 200 years, great ages of poetry have been followed by great ages of Art Song composition. Our goal is to keep this literature alive and to inspire its continued creation. We want to elevate the song recital and to inspire further listening and studying of the rich heritage of poetry and melody of art song. To quote Thomas Hampson, "This seems to be the very heartbeat of song: the ability to suspend life's successive moments and pulses for the expanded reflection of a greater present, allowing for the individual to find his innermost self."

We have had much success with education and outreach through workshops and lectures in various universities and schools. If one common theme emerges from these musical events, it is that songs are as much about words as they are about music, and that texts must not be just projected but also understood by singers and listeners.

Through our Community Development, we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. This is one of our key areas of focus here at Art Song Center for Poets and Musicians, and a source of much success for our Arts Organization. Get in touch with us today and see how you can lend a helping hand with this program.

If you are a studio voice teacher, singer, poet, or collaborative pianist, or amateur musician, we will help you to refine your performing skills as well as introduce you to more repertoire. Particular emphasis will be given to the poetic text as well as the interpretation of the art song composition. There will be many opportunities to be involved in sessions that include featured poets, featured composers, reading sessions of art song literature, and other sessions to promote and revitalize art song.
